Tamu Besar Kota Belud 2009 : The foods, crafts & wares
The highly anticipated annual Tamu Besar took place in Kota Belud over last weekend. We attended the event on Sunday and got to witness first hand and to capture the colours and splendour at this yearly showcase of the area’s culture, foods and traditions.
All of these uniquely crafted items are also on sale at this same tamu site during the equally popular weekly tamu every Sunday so even if you missed this annual event, you could still get your hands on these handmade crafts at the weekly tamu.
Also available are freshly prepared foods both local as well as national.
Over at the other end of the tamu, the market section of the tamu sells an assortment of foods, fresh as well as dried or preserved ones….
…..some of the items on sale here you’ll probably never find anywhere else in Malaysia….

Even if you missed the annual Tamu Besar in Kota Belud, the weekly tamu here every Sunday is itself a not to be missed, unique attraction all on its own.

Wah, terliur JR tengok gambar2 doc tuu.. smuanya mantapz2 woo..! Aduh, seharian jalan sakan lah korank haritu yer sedangkan JR mcm nak terkencing dalam sluar menahan kesejukkan masa larian tu. Ada pulak hujan lebat atas gunung tu and mist tebal mcm kapas!!! hangin aku terpaksa mengeletar! Anyway, you guys really have fun huh!! lol. Always love the shoots doc. 2 thumbs up!!!!

Tamu Besar tu nama tmpt ke..? or mcm pasar tani..? or event..?
mcm x bz eh, selesa je nak jalan2.
Pinky: Kat sini pasar minggu dipanggil Tamu… Sumer bandar2 and banyak pekan2 ada tamu mingguan. Yang paling popular is Tamu Mingguan Kota Belud – byk tourist from KK pegi sampai ke sana setiap hari ahad. Tapi sekali setahun Kota Belud jadi tempat paling happening di Sabah sebab Tamu Besar ni sebab disamping tamu tu ada juga pertunjukkan kuda oleh koboi2 timur di kota belud tu. BTW pics nih nampak lengang sebab kitorang sampai sini 6.30pg. Dah memang terang benderang at that time & gerai2 sumer dah buka tapi tak ramai sgt pengujung lagi.. By 10am dah memang pack sangat and susah nak amik2 gambar…
Shah..nice shoot ya. Tapi mana gambar kuda-kuda bajau and all the ladies yang pakai baju traditional ? From the costume, horses, foods…unique kan….Kalau ada peluang cuba pi majlis wedding suku kaum Bajau…the costumes, all the decorations memang cantik.
p/s : What is your opinion about Sabah so far….dah almost 6 month kt Sabah….

Gidong: Tahun depan kau join la diorang buat pertunjukkan menunggang kuda tu. So sunburn kat muka cemana? Ada rupa macam udang bakar tak merah menyala
3 tingkat kat Queen tu pun tersemput? So, camna nak naik yg bertingkat2 kat Mt. Kinabalu tu? Sure lepas turun dari gunung nanti, mesti dah ramping mcm Shakira. Tak pun mcm Beyonce. Bagi sedap skit biarlah ramping mcm Mariah Carey. hahaha…! Dah puas main Cardiovaskular Boxing kan? Penatnya naik gunung K tu sama mcm 10kali penat bermain dengan Cardiovaskular Boxing tu. lol. (belum naik dah bagi org suspen. Takpa JR akan bagi fully support kat Doc later erk. Tak lari kena sebat! Jaga! lol
Jr: Boleh, masih byk masa nak training & bina stamina. Hari2 kat tempat keje tak leh naik lif & tak lama lagi kat rumah pun hari2 kena naik tangga juga
Ptg2 pun kena start gi jogging semula ni… Dah dekat sebulan lebih tak pegi
Goodness… it is illegal to trade giant clam as it is protected species..
Tadpole: Really? Didn’t know that? They sell it at quite a few stalls there and at several other tamu’s I’ve been to. Some places they already remove the flesh and sell by the kilo…
